IKKM Research Project

Beilenhoff’s research project during his fellowship at the IKKM will investigate the way in which work is visualized in Eastern European cinema between the 1930s and the 1990s. Starting from the proposition that this cinema, unlike that of Western Europe and the USA, has the “working human being“ playing a role that has hitherto carried a strong rhetorical charge, I would like to use documentary and fictional image formats to create an imagology of industrial work.
