This project focuses on those medial dispositives of collecting in which the series becomes productive as historiographic structural principle and normalizing agency. The starting point for the study is the popular practice of the “sport of collecting” which developed in the late 1860s, and the compensatory universe of the collector’s album.
From there the planned route leads via television to the tabular curriculum vitae and the phenomenon of social networking.
