Herta Wolf

Herta Wolf is Professor for History and Theory of Photography at the University of Cologne. She studied literature at the University of Vienna, specializing at the same time in the field of theory of photography. From 1986-1990, she was editorial journalist, then editor of »Der Kairos der Fotografie. Mitteilungen des österreichischen Fotoarchivs«. She had teaching assignments at the universities of Vienna, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Konstanz and the Schule für Gestaltung in Zürich. In 1993, she obtained a grant form the graduate school »Theorie der Literatur« at the University of Konstanz. Since 2008, she is president of the section »Geschichte und Archive« of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGPh).

Early photography; history of photography in the context of the history of science and art; historiography and theory of photography, photographic aspects in art since 1960, visual rhetorics.
